PLGA is a suitable biomaterial or polymer for the preparation of novel drug delivery

I found this article as an interesting one. I hope many readers are interested in this. The article conveys following important messages:

1. Poly (D, L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for drug delivery use.
2. The polymeric nanoparticles based on PLGA and its co-polymer are designed for controlled and targeted drug delivery. Also, PLGA and its co-polymer are important in designing nanoparticles with desired characteristics such as biocompatibility, biodegradation, particle size, surface properties, drug release and targetability.
3. PLGA-based polymeric nanoparticles loaded with different drugs like Triclosan, Paclitaxel, Ellagic acid, Streptomycin, Estradiol, Cyclosporine, Gentamicin, Risperidone, Adriamycin, Alendronate, Cisplatin, showed effectiveness in their respective therapies.
4. The stealth nanoparticles based on the PLGA co-polymer are developed to overcome the opsonization process during i.v. administration for an improved and targeted drug delivery.
